Five-time International Kart Federation (IKF) Champion Dylan Albiani (13) will be honored by the San Francisco Bay Area based Motor Sports Press Association (MSPA) on March 8, during the organizations 43rd Green Flag and Awards Dinner at Francesco's Restaurant in Oakland.
Dylan, an honor roll student at Modesto's Big Valley Christian School will receive the MSPA's Paul Tyler Rising Star Award for 2005. The teenaged Go Kart racer will be the second recipient of this award.
Named for the late Paul Tyler, a renowned motor sports photographer, the award was created in 2004 in honor of the late Mr. Tyler's unstinting support, assistance and counsel of young racers during his lifetime. Paul Tyler was a familiar fixture trackside at Tracy's Altamont Raceway, Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway, in Monterey and Infineon Raceway in Sonoma for many years.
Young racers are nominated by members of the MSPA and voted for by the general membership. Requirements for nomination is that the boy or girl be under the age of sixteen at the start of the racing season and compete in a recognized form of motorized sport. Additionally, their performances both on and off the track must merit consideration for Paul Tyler Rising Star Award.
The inaugural Paul Tyler Rising Star Award was presented to Brentwood, California's Doff Cooksey. Cooksey raced in the Mini Cup Juniors before moving up to the high-powered Spec Modified class at Altamont Raceway in 2004.
