Nor-cal IKF competed at Stockton this past weekend with 153 entries. With the points heating up racing was tight and competitive. Being the second to last race, all the series contenders showed up ready to race in top form.
18 80cc shifters came out to play as would Mike Consear setting fast time in qualifying and when the main event came around Mike put his game face on and his head down and cruised to two second victory over Mike Wright and Adam Booker. Junior Sportsman was a great race between three of nor-cals finest juniors. After several lead changes, Emmick drivers Neil Alberico and Alexander Rossi battled hard for second allowing Invader driver Dylan Albiani to drive away to an easy victory. Laura Hayes Drove off and left all the boys in junior 80cc shifter as did Steve Slacks in the 125 Parilla masters. Cody Kay controlled the junior comers over Genseal, Greco, and Potts. The Merrillās Took both senior Briggs with Ross in masters and Thomas in Super Briggs. Bodylines Chris Scribner look to have the Senior Superbox in hand but broke on the first lap leaving it open for MMS Kartings Mike Botelho to capture the win sticker. Junior Puma Sportsman was a great race. Alberico, Hodgson, and Brunelli all were fast with chance to win but Jessica Brunelli fought back from a penalty in the heat race to win the main in convincing fashion. C.J. Mooneyham won it again in jr. 2 Briggs and Nick Grossi showed his talents in the Jr. 1 Briggs.
Sunday came and the attitude of the pits intensified. Mathias Kattanek was blazing fast. He would win the Senior Superbox Heavy but not without Bryson Slacks putting up a battle. Junior Superbox had Rossi and Albiani going at it again. But this time Alberico wasnāt involved to create havoc. Rossi had the horsepower and pulled Dylan out of every turn and soon passed and ran away for the win. 80cc Shifter Masters was close. Don Silva fought hard for the win with Tabangcura second. 125 Parilla Sr. was again the show of the weekend. The top five were quick. Brady Halbasch set fast time for team MMI and would control the heat. Kart Keys Garrett Peterson would get a good start in the main and would use the help of Scribner to pull away from the field. No passes were made, as the whole field was so close. Peterson would get the win with Scribner second and Emmicks Cory Gwin third. However, in 80cc Shifter Pro passing would be of the norm. With a couple laps left, John Van Nghiem would miss a shift handing it to Gary Gwin for the win. Van Nghiem would get second followed by Matt Davis.100cc Parilla would see Carol Brown set fast time and win both heats for a dominating performance for team MMI. The next race for Nor-Cal would be the season finale at Dixon Where competitors would be competing not only for championships, but also for Money and Prizes on July 30-31.
